Aussie mass migration

Thursday, November 16, 2006
So many people go and some never come back! My friend Lizzy has just Married a fine Aussie called Ed, and Fran is the latest loss of England to the land down under! We had
Fran's leaving do last weekend and what a great time it was, even though I was on the floor with these two snorring in my earhole.

Lovely to see you all again - Fran - Did you open my DIY card eventually or what?

Treefest-2006

Newstead Treefest 2006 was a fantastic gathering of lively and creative types. This years festival (my first) was about 1500 strong and had somthing for everybody. crafts and music for the kids and copious amouts of good music.

I was invited along as a photographer. . . . well . . I was invited along as a donkey for penny the photographer! She took the pictures and I carried her bags. It wasn't quite that bad anyway. I got some short time-lapse sequences taken, that Morrigan (Rob's youth) tendes to skip about in lots.

The day was full of quality live acts that went on until 11-12ish, and then banging tunes took over with the Smokey's rig. It went on and on as they usually do!

Cheers Penny and all the Treefest organisers - Can't wait for next year!

Summer camping bash

Dear All who came to
the party - thank you so much! - It was a great one this year with loads of new faces.

I have so many good things to say, that I wont start, I will just be a grumpy %@#& and moan about the volumes of RUBBISH that you left. Next year we are going to have a ZERO-WASTE policy and recycle everything...

But thank you all for your help too!

Yet again I failed to add up the scores at the end . . I reckon the yellows won it this year though.
Hope to see you before next year

The trip to Germany

Wednesday, July 05, 2006
Nick suggested back in February sometime that we might take a ride over on our motorbikes to Germany during the world cup. Now I do love football, but Im not what you might call a devoted fan really. My friends would never call me if they had a hard football question on 'Who want to a Millionaire?', but I rarely turn down an opportunity to play myself.

Aaaaaaanyway, we trotted off from Kettering on the Friday afternoon - 18th June I think it was - Nick on his new love, a black speed tripple, and me on my comparatively sluggish harley. We stopped in London for 2 nights, both night relying on the kindness of friends to put us up - Many thanks to Anil and Rosie - You are troopers :¬)

The friday night, we listened to some live music in Leicester square - the club's door we went through disguised the club as a sweaty meat market sort of place, but when folk started playing live music, I was pleasantly surprised. Crispy melodic tunes played by skilled hands - And it was'nt turned up to 11 so your ears bled. . . . which was nice.

I met lots of folk that Hasna knew, one who stayed with us that evening, Moyra (y or i?). In the morning, We were playing an interesting game of getting around 4 people around london with 3 crash hats - that took us to Regents park, where all four of us eased our severe hangovers in the sun on the Saturday. I had planned to meet my new photographer friend Emma (see previous blog) but I felt i might be bad company - so I had to let her down - sorry Emma.

I havent even got to Germany yet. . . this is turning into a long entry. . . So the sunday Morning we left Rosie's place in Hackney, feeling well-fed from the Thai meal the night before. The journey to Dover went quickly and nick navigated us (as he did many times during the journey) swiftly out of london.

There was a long wait at the ferry port and we met lots of other bikers doing their biker thing - Loads of belgians on 1100XSs and a bike-mad Australian who loved to talk about bikes, and bikes. . . . oh and bikes too! Off the ferry at t'other end and into Europe for the next 5 days.

The End (for now because Im tired)

I will probably never finish the end, so here is a summary. . . . Flat, straight Roads. Coastline, swimming, sea, sand, riding, Camping, cigarettes, beer, biking, Maastrict, coffee, thunderstorms, football, coffee, riding, cologne, camping, wasteland, fans, red, white, sweden, yellow, sun, heat, people, fans, bratwurst, beer, keepy-uppies, football, games, goals, 2-2, bockwurst, beer, sleep, biking, slow harleys, fast Triples, Antwerp, hostel, pizzas, football, beer, lap dance clubs, bed, locks, bikes, biking, straight flat roads, Dunkirque, ferry, sea, dover, riding, M25, A14, Kettering, food, Paul, Dating Direct, sleep, wonderful winding road to Wymondaham, grandparents :¬)
